It may seem school just got out for the summer, but we’re already gearing up for this fall.
SCHOOL UNIFORMS & SUPPLIES
We’re qualifying families within our 22 zip code area for all DISD required school supplies and two uniform sets (shirts and pants/shorts) through August 31st. Families receive vouchers now.
- Uniform pick up – August 21-25
- School Supply pick up – Monday, August 28.
We expect to serve between 2500 and 2800 children.
We’re providing immunizations and back to school, Head Start and sports physicals during the following times:
- Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon
- Tuesday & Thursday evenings – 5:00 p.m. to closing
Please note – expect shorter wait times on Tuesday and Friday mornings because we have more staff on hand.
April 15th has come and gone but we’re still seeing a strong demand for tax preparation services.
In partnership with Communities Foundation, we’ll be assisting those who missed the deadline or requested an extension to prepare an accurate return.
Who may apply – Individuals or families who earned less than $ 54,000 in 2016.
When we’re open:
- Monday-Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
We’ll also be open on four Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.:
- June 3rd
- August 5th
- September 9th
- October 7th

Taxpayers, individuals or families, earning less than $ 54,000 annually may seek help Tuesday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. through April 15th. No appointment is necessary.

We’re excited to partner again with Communities Foundation to offer this important service and to help low income families steer clear of high-cost refund advances.
We are thrilled to begin a new partnership with the Pastoral Counseling Center that expands our Mental Health services. Two PCC licensed clinicians are now coming to NDSM five days each week to provide behavioral health care services to Emergency Aid Center clients and Medical Clinic patients.
This exciting new collaboration builds upon our 17-year effort to address the critical need we identified for mental health counseling for our clients. Though we knew the need existed, we were only able to begin addressing it in 2014, through our relationship with UT Southwestern Medical Center. Since then, all adult clinic patients have been screened for depression.
From 2015 until now, Sister Sylvia Guerra, a Licensed Master Social Worker, has been offering onsite counseling to those that need it. In 2016, volunteer Peggy Busby, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and volunteer Gladys De la Cruz, a counselor licensed in Puerto Rico who serves as an interpreter, joined her.
Our new agreement with PCC expands and enhances our ability to deliver this important service.
