Don't Be Scammed! More Free Tax Preparation

In order to help those with low and moderate incomes to claim and keep the tax refunds and credits due to them, we're offering more free tax preparation assistance this year. Volunteers will be here an extra hour six days each week.

By offering this free service, we want to help our clients avoid paying preparation fees and the high interest rates on loans characterized as "rapid refunds."

We'll begin preparing and electronically filing returns on Monday, January 16 and continue through Tuesday, April 17, 2012.

The hours are:

• Monday through Friday 2:00 pm to 7:30 pm
• Saturday 9:00 am to 1:00 p.m.

We see clients on a walk-in basis. Anyone seeking assistance should be prepared with Social Security or ITIN cards for everyone in the household as well as W-2 and 1099 forms and documents relating to income and claimed deductions. Also bring last year's tax return and documentation of your bank account number.
